A diverse group of individuals, backgrounds, and experiences

Palmetto Goodwill proudly announces the appointment of five new members to its Board of Directors: Chief Reggie Burgess, Leandro Cassola, Stacy Cozad, Jamie DeMent, and Lauryce Graves-McIver.

“We are excited to round out our Board with dedicated community leaders, committed to changing lives by providing equitable access to training, education, and employment,” said Brian Itzkowitz, President and CEO of Palmetto Goodwill. “The diversity of professional backgrounds and lived experiences will be crucial in deepening and sustaining Palmetto Goodwill’s community impact in the coming years.”

Chief Reggie Burgess, North Charleston Police Department, joins Palmetto Goodwill with tremendous experience and ties in the community. His career with the North Charleston Police Department dates to 1989, when he returned to his hometown to protect the respected rights of fellow community members.

Leandro Cassola is the Charleston Plant Manager of Ingevity, a global specialty chemical company with a history steeped in sustainability. Utilizing international lived experiences, Leandro leads his team while prioritizing safety, sustainability, and efficient operations through ISO, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.

Stacy Cozad, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for Ingevity, brings a strong background in strategic problem solving, litigation, and critical transactions.

Jamie DeMent, Talent and Strategic Initiatives for the Charleston Regional Development Alliance, passionately leads work supporting the region’s tech and talent attraction initiatives. DeMent is also a 2022 Riley Fellow in the Diversity Leaders Initiative through the Riley Institute at Furman University.

Lauryce Graves-McIver is a retired former Retail Executive and Administrator for the City of Memphis, Tennessee. With experience in fundraising, community outreach, and retail expertise, Graves-McIver spent nearly 7 years advocating and delivering literacy, educational achievement, and workforce development to Memphians.
