Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina is expanding its mission services to Carolina Forest with a new retail store opening Thursday, February 16. The Grand Opening will kick-off at 10:00 a.m. with a ribbon cutting attended by Myrtle Beach City Councilwoman Susan Means.

The new Carolina Forest Goodwill Retail Store is located at 2164 Oakheart Road. “By expanding the number of our stores we are expanding the opportunity for people to donate, and therefore expanding our ability to further achieve our mission of providing jobs, job training and placement for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment,” said Robert Smith, CEO and President for Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina.

The Grand Opening Day Celebration will begin with a Ribbon Cutting at 10:00 AM and include:

The new 15,000 square foot retail store features a brightly lit 8,500 square foot retail area with a clean interior and a convenient drive-through donation center for donors. Planned to open at a later date is a 1,500 square foot Job Link Center which will offer individuals free employment services such as access to computers for job searches, assistance with resumes and other resources that help to ensure economic independence.

“When people have economic independence, they tend to be happier, more confident and contribute more to their community,” said Smith.
